Welcome to the world of Mirrorless cameras: GH4

When someone syas they have a passion for videography, what does it really mean? It is the professionalism and deication that make for a passionate videographer who in spite of all the obstacles and challenges keep moving towards what he is looking for. Isn't it? So, one can say that passion is the driving force that makes a videographer what he is or where ever he is standing in his field.

But apart from being passionate, I think a videographer needs a camera that does justice to all his passion and hard work. The camera shall capture the video in the same way in which it is captured in the eyes of the videographer.

Comparison with previous models
And I have found a camera which is very close to this feature of capturing that perfect shot and making a video in the very perfect way, with less complaints, the " Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4".
It resembles a lot like its predecessor "GH3", but in technicality, it has outnumbered it and I can rate it as one of the most capable and skilful still and video cameras I have ever come accross.

And all this comes for a price tag which is a mass-market price tag. The price and the unmatched quality of the camera is something which makes it worth a buy for all the professional videographers like me. Even people who are passionate about videography can invest in this camera and surprise themeselves with their own work.

Many a times it is seen that a newer version of any prduct is just an incremental progression of the previous model and there is no big technological advancement. But there are exceptions to every rule and Lumix GH4 is one such exception, I believe.

Features

  • The important attractive feature of GH4 is that it has become the first CSC to offer 4K video, which is the lates in the high resolution video capturing stream. And it does not stop here.
  • The Model is found to have many high-end features which has made the GH series so popular till date. Ofcourse, with a lot of improvement made to its predecessor.
  • Some of the headline features are, namely it provides excellent quality in still image and gives a fantastic and highly detailed video quality.
  • Its video recording is very superior with chops with 4K video, which includes both cinema 4K and the ultra HD.
  • It has great AF performance and provides a burst shooting. Has a dust proof and splash proof magnesium alloy body with a built-in Wi-Fi.

But like any other product it also has some limitations. It is slowly noticed that the buffer clearing with RAW files is sluggish and the rolling shutter that is noticeable on the 4K video is not as compact as most of the Mirrorless cameras.

Conclusion: If you are an existing user of GH3, you shall spend time on this version which has a menu to go through, so that you don't miss out on any feature which might prove to be usefull to you as a videographer.

Panasonic GH2 camera is a significant tool for video recording and is far more amazing than most of its competitors. It comprises of a 17.3x13.0mm Live MOS sensor, which can shoot 16.05 Mega pixels with high-resolution quality. It also has a 10x Zoom lens and a fantastic multifunctional touch screen that can control both the video recording and stills.

While it's auto focus works quickly and effortlessly, it is one-third in size as compared to many DSLRs and much lighter in weight.

It also has MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer that eradicates the chances of blurred photos even with the shaky hands. It has many other capabilities such as advanced dust reduction system, 3D shooting facility, Intelligent Auto mode, Cinema mode that enables you to record 1080/24p video with 24Mbps, and Variable Movie mode that allows you to select frame rate, etc.

Look and Feel

The look of GH2 is somewhat similar to GH1 with a few variation such as different placements,
an advanced AF mode dial, a rubberrized grip and several customizable buttons, When you see it initially, many knobs, buttons, and switches make it look complicated; however, every control is properly labeled and performs a particular function. While Panasonic has used high-grade plastic to make its main body, the rubberized grip makes it non-slippery and convenient to hold.

Control Layout
The touch screen of the GH2 is intuitive and amazingly very quick. Althoug the menu of this camera has been modified superficially, yet it is intelligibly more visible and colorful. While control dial in GH1 was placed on the fron side, in GH2 it is located at the back. Panasonic has modified it intelligently making small changes such as adding a separate video mode button, enhanced ergonomics of the camera, fine-tuned video recording, etc, that make Gh2 more appealing, making it sophisticated for the high-end consumers.

Benefits of Panasonic GH2

  • Gh2 is an immensely versatile camera that delivers the fluid representation of videos with 1920x1080 pixels (Full  HD) resolution.
  • Panssonic Gh2 has the capabilty to display videos and images through an HDMI mini cable that can easily be connected to any independent monitor.
  • It offers fantastic AF-performance.
  • This is an extensive and hugely versatile camera as compared to many other competitors.
  • It comprises of an articulated tough screen.
  • Its performance is very similar to SKR imaging qualtiy.
  • It offers one touch HD video recording.
Conclusion
The Panasonic GH2 is a versatile camera with compant and lighter body as compared to most DSLRs. Its touch screen and tremendously incredible manual controls along with the quick video recording capabilities make this camera a versatile and brilliant option for people who want an advanced camera for semi professional videos.
